Welcome to the Rescue Library
What do we do in the library at Rescue School?
Classroom library visits start the week of August 31. Each class will visit the library each week. Classes spend about 30 minutes in the library. During that time they are read to, taught some of the many library skills and check out books. We are happy to have almost 12,000 books to choose from!
What else?
Kids can take quizzes on some of the books they read. We have over 3700 quizzes available through Reading Counts on our computers.
Starting in January, the California Young Reader Medal books are shared. In March the children get to vote for their favorite.
In February we have “I love reading week”. There will be fun activities shared all week.
Twice a year we have a Scholastic Book Fair. This is held in the library. The book fairs are the primary fundraisers to purchase new books for the library. It is a favorite time for students to buy books of their own along with bookmarks, pencils and other creative school supplies. Our first book fair will be in the end of October.
