Our Classroom

A Little About Our Classroom

School begins at 8:45 and ends at 3:00.  Our schedule will vary on some days.  This will happen on Early Release Days, like Monday, August 22. Students will attend from 8:45-12:45 on Early Release Days as well as Minimum Days.

Volunteers are an integral part of our school program.  We have our volunteers in the classroom beginning mid-September.  Volunteers must be fingerprinted and fingerprints must have cleared before parents can volunteer in class. Our volunteers help in many ways:  helping students, office-type work, artwork, and so much more!  Some parents are unable to help in the classroom on a regular basis and opt to help for special events, such as class parties or field trips.

Classroom Rules & Expectations

Classroom Rules & Expectations

    Follow directions.

    Feet and Hands to yourself.

Small voices inside, tall voices on the playground.

Work together, get along, and respect each other.

Take care of your things and keep the classroom neat and clean.

In first grade, we understand that children are learning the boundaries of their bodies and they are still learning the social skills of how to get along with others.  They are not always aware of where their body ends and the next child's body begins.  We don't expect children to be perfect, just pretty good, most of the time.

We believe in logical, natural consequences.  We take care of problems when we see them occur or when children let us know about them.  While we try to keep a tight rein on problems, sometimes things happen without us knowing.  Please let me know if your child is having a problem.  It is important for all children to feel safe at school. Please encourage your child to tell us directly if they are having a problem.
