Super Hero of the Week

Super Star/Super Hero of the Week

Each week a different student will be invited to be the "Super" star and share about him or herself with the class. That student will also serve as the teacher's assistant that week. A Sign Up Genius sign up was sent to all parents' email addresses listed on Aeries. If no sign up was made for a student, a week will be randomly assigned.

Each day a special time is set aside for your child to share something different.

All Week

The Super Hero Student will be a teacher's assistant (TA) throughout the week. Duties may include: line leader, taking notes to the office, passing out or collecting papers, checking assignments, carrying lunch baskets, sharpening pencils, library patrol, etc.

Mysterious Monday: It’s a Mystery! Students bring a hidden item that reflects something about them and their interests (e.g., trophies, sports equipment, ballet shoes, special collection, artwork, etc.). Students will give 3 clues (in complete sentences) and answer “yes” or “no” questions so classmates may guess the item.

Tell About You Tuesday: Share Super Star poster provided to the student.

Welcome Wednesday: Students share Family, Friends, or Furries. Students may share family photographs, bring a special guest, or a family pet (all pets must be in a container or restrained in some manner.) Please contact me in advance if your child will be bringing a guest or pet in order to make arrangements.

Thoughtful Thursday: Parents or a close family member write a letter to the class about the Super Star Student. The letter should be addressed to the class (“Dear Students of Room E-4”) in a sealed envelope and will be read aloud to the class by the teacher. The letter can be a funny or touching story about the student, about his or her special qualities, what you admire about him or her, or even a poem. (Yes, families – this is homework for you!)

Favorite Friday: Bring in a favorite book to share with the class. Students should be prepared to give a "mini-book talk" to the class which includes the title, author, a brief plot summary, and an explanation of why this book is a favorite. The teacher (or a special guest) will give a "Book Blessing" by reading the student's favorite selection from the book.

Thank you, parents, ahead of time for helping to make your child’s week very special. Please contact me if you have any questions or need to make special arrangements.
