Welcome to our classroom!  Below is a photo of the classroom library which I replenish with trips to the Scholastic Warehouse Book Fair in the summer and bonus points your parents help me earn for the classroom when they place Scholastic book orders online using our class code. I focus on purchasing book series which always fly off the shelves in Mrs. Allen's library such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dork Diaries, Big Nate, Bad Guys, Owl Diaries, Harry Potter, Gregor the Overlander, the Who Was and Where Is non-fiction book series and many more.  If you can't tell, I LOVE reading, and I can't wait to share my love of stories and books with you.
In our classroom, students sit in table groups, so they can support one another in learning and collaborate (put your heads together and work out a problem in pairs or as a team) when necessary. The set up is also ideal for math groups and small, reading group meetings.

To help build a sense of community and to wear on our class field trips, we always create self-portraits during the first week of school for our class t-shirt. Each year I look forward to seeing the self-portraits the students create for this purpose. In order to help pay for the shirts, I ask for a donation of $8 per student.  However, it is not required and all students will be provided with a t-shirt! I will have the order forms available on Back to School Night. If you can't attend Back to School Night on Wednesday, August 14 at 6:45 in E-5, then I will send home the order form on Friday, August 16. Below is a look at our class t-shirt from a couple of years ago!  They turn out so cute each year and become a keepsake for you.
