Welcome to Second Grade!! This year will be an exciting and fun adventure. We will learn many new things, make lots of friends, and learn to become more independent. I believe that it is important to look at the child as a whole, and that education is more than just reading, writing, and math. I make sure that children have many opportunities to move about, enjoy the arts, and have chances to work on their social skills. I look forward to meeting you and your children. We are going to have a great year!

Making learning fun can get expensive. There are some items that are essential to making our class more of a home and some that just make learning more fun. Here is my Amazon wish list. (Click on the picture for the link!) Although it is on the Amazon list, I don't need for it to be purchased from Amazon. Any store that sells the same items is fine. If you aren't able to volunteer in the classroom, this is another great way to give back to our classroom!
Thursday FoldersTop of Page
Each week I will send home a folder on Thursdays (Wednesday if there is no school on Friday). It is full of your child's work from the week and any important notices. Please take a few moments to go through the papers with your child and ask them about their work. Return the folder to school on the next school day. Homework is sent home at the beginning of the month and is returned at the end of the month. Children who complete and return their homework may choose a book to keep.

Library day is on Wednesdays. We will visit Mrs. Kinney in the library. Your child will be able to check out two books. Please help your child to remember to return their book by Wednesday so that they can choose a new one!
