2020/2021 California Young Reader Medal Nominees
Top of Page

Every year students vote for their favorite book nominated for the California Young Reader Medal.   The books are nominated by students, teachers, librarians and parents from all over California.  The fun part of this award is that only students are allowed to vote.  Kindergartners through third graders hear 5 picture books.  Fourth and fifth graders hear 3 older reader picture books.  Students will hear these books in the library beginning in January.  Fourth and fifth graders can also read 3 separate fiction, chapter books on their own.  If they read all 3 books, they vote for their favorite. Voting takes place in the library in March.

The nominated books this year are:

After the Fall by Dan Santat
